City star Kevin De Bruyne ruled out for six weeks
Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of action for around six weeks after the star performer got injured during Manchester City's League Cup match against Fulham at the Etihad. De Bruyne had clashed with Fulham's Fosu-Mensah and his injury has been analyzed to be serious enough to rule him out of the squad till mid-December. This comes as a major blow to City.
Manchester City have released a statement regarding De Bruyne's injury
The club said, "Kevin De Bruyne suffered knee ligament damage in his left knee during Thursday night's Carabao Cup fourth-round win over Fulham." The statement also added that he will not need to undergo surgery, but will be out for 5-6 weeks.
Guardiola's comments on De Bruyne's condition
While speaking to reporters on Friday, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said, "We are sad for him. Nobody likes to be injured. Unfortunately he is injured but fortunately, it is not surgery". He further added that football is a contact sport and such things, though unfortunate, can happen to anyone. KDB recently returned to the squad after being out since mid-August.
Is De Bruyne's injury a big blow to City?
Kevin De Bruyne was out since mid-August and City did face some problems after his departure. However, they coped up pretty well, with players like Aguero, Sane, Bernardo and David Silva stepping up to the occasion. As the season progresses, City might face problems without their best player.
