Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has been enjoying a good form, since mid-2018, in both Tests and ODIs.
At the start of this year, it seemed that the fast bowler has put his off-field controversies behind him that took center stage last year.
But now, a chargesheet has filed against Shami against him for dowry, harassment and molestation.
Here is more.
Shami charged under under IPC 498A and 354A
According to a report in ANI, the Indian pacer has been charged under IPC 498A and 354A for dowry harassment and sexual harassment respectively.
Shami has been charged by the Kolkata Police as they submitted a chargesheet against him before the Alipore Police Court.
Notably, this comes almost a year after Shami's wife, Hasin Jahan had accused him of harassment.
The allegations by Hasin Jahan
Shami and Jahan grabbed headlines last year, when she had posted screenshots of his messages with women as well as his photos with purported girlfriends on Facebook.
His family abused her and "even wanted to kill me," she had said.
Shami had dismissed these allegations, saying Jahan had lost her mental balance and was trying to sabotage his career.
Jahan had levelled several accusations
Shami's wife Jahan accused him of domestic violence, match-fixing and adultery.
She had even alleged that the Indian cricketer fudged his age to fool the BCCI.
Prior to that, the BCCI had held Shami's contract. But after investigations, he was cleared by the cricket board and was awarded a Grade B contract.
Just days ago, the BCCI awarded Shami with Grade A contract.
Shami has worked his way back into the ODI side
Shami had a decent outing in the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia, which the visitors won 3-2.
He picked up five scalps in four matches.
The cricketer, who looks fit and lethal, has worked hard to make a strong comeback to the ODI team.
He is one of the pivotal assets for India in the World Cup.
