What's the story

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) saw a challenging total of 209/5 chased down by Punjab Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK are yet to win this season, having lost their first two matches. Youngster Ayush Mhatre scored a blistering 73 off just 43 balls for CSK in their score of 209/5. In response, PBKS chased down a 210-run target. Skipper Shreyas Iyer smashed a fifty.

CSK's innings got off to a rocky start with the loss of key wickets during the Power-play. Sanju Samson was dismissed cheaply again, leaving fans disappointed. However, Mhatre stepped up to stabilize CSK's innings and took on the bowlers with confidence. He shared a 96-run stand alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad for the 2nd wicket.
