What's the story

Extending his fine run in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, Prithvi Shaw smoked a fine 74 for Maharashtra in his latest outing against Punjab in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. The dasher scored a fine half-century on Day 1 of the game as his side was off to a fine start. With his 48th run in the game, Shaw also completed 5,000 First-Class runs.

Batting first in the game, Maharashtra were off to a perfect start with Shaw and Arshin Kulkarni adding 144 runs for the opening wicket. The former shifted gears after being watchful early on and played some delightful shots. Shaw eventually departed after scoring 74 off 117 balls, a knock laced with four fours and two sixes. Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar trapped him.

Playing his maiden Ranji Trophy season for Maharashtra, Shaw scored a duck in the first innings but managed to make a comeback with 75 runs in the second. In his next outing, he made a record-breaking double-hundred (222) against Chandigarh. Though Shaw could only manage 8 and 20 in his next two outings, he following scores were 71 and 74.
