#GamingBytes: PUBG might come to PS4 in December

PUBG or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is the brainchild of Brendan Greene. This game revolutionized the Battle Royale genre. Enjoying immense popularity on PC, Xbox and mobiles, PUBG is looking to expand its outreach further by launching on PlayStation4. While rumors of the game's arrival started back in September, they seem to be substantiated now, in light of new evidence. We decode.

    What is PUBG all about?

PUBG is a game that sets 100 players within a shrinking play zone, across various maps. They have to loot, kill and survive to emerge as victors and win the chicken dinner. The game can be played in solo, duo or squad modes.

The evidence that suggests PUBG is coming to PS4

An observant PS4 user reported that PUBG appeared in the PS4 Game Database. Although he didn't claim to know when the game would arrive, the user reported it was on Sony servers 'hosting the game image and Content-ID for the psn store'. The user provided two strings of Content-ID characters for North America and Europe and images resembling the promotional pieces of PUBG.

    Jigsaw falling into place

Despite the proof, the unique PS4 ID code of PUBG didn't return results about the game's release date or price. Nonetheless, when viewed in the context of an event a few months back, the recently revealed information makes sense. In September, PUBG's rating for PS4 was seen on 'Ratings Boards' in South Korea, which is the country where PUBG Corp. is headquartered.

When might PUBG be coming to PS4?

PUBG currently has a console exclusive deal with Xbox since December 2017. Almost a year has passed since then, which leads us to believe that it could be coming to PS4 in December 2018. This has been supported by Daniel Ahmad, Niko Partners analyst. He suggested the game would be released after being displayed at the Games Award 2018 held on December 6.

The possibility of cross platform PUBG play

While we await an official announcement from PUBG, we can speculate how PUBG on PS4 might be like. Since PS4 started cross-platform play, with Fortnite being one of the first games enjoying the privilege, we hope PUBG too is available for cross-platform gaming. It would be great to see how opponents across platforms duke it out for the chicken dinner.
