IND vs WI: Kohli in sight of this special milestone
Virat Kohli has been in extraordinary form in 2018 and is in the best of touches with the bat. The skipper hit a brilliant 140 in the first ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. The 29-year-old, who shared a gigantic 246-run stand with Rohit Sharma (152*), achieved many feats in Guwahati. And now the Indian captain is eying this special milestone.
Kohli in line to get past 10,000 runs in ODIs
Kohli, who has 9,919 runs in ODIs, needs another 81 to get past the 10,000-run mark. If he achieves the same in the second ODI, then he would become the fifth Indian to reach this milestone. Kohli is also in line to be the fastest to 10,000 runs. Sachin Tendulkar holds this record. He took 259 innings. Kohli has played 204 innings, till now.
Kohli could join an illustrious list
Kohli will also become only the 13th player in history of the game to get past 10,000 runs in ODIs. Sachin (18,246) leads the list. Besides Sachin, three Indians are in this illustrious list. Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889) and MS Dhoni (10,123) are the other three. Kohli will be joining these legendary players alongside several former world class players.
Special Kohli in dream mode in 2018
Kohli has amassed 889 runs this year in just 10 ODIs. He is the fourth highest scorer in ODIs this year after England trio Jonny Bairstow (1,025), Joe Root (936) and Jason Roy (890). By the end of the series against West Indies, he could very well be the top scorer of the year. Kohli is also the highest scorer in Tests this year.
Kohli has smashed 8 centuries this year
Kohli has already notched four Test tons this year besides the four in ODIs. He has 7 fifties across both formats in 2018 as well. The Indian skipper is at a different level this term and his consistency in both formats is indeed special.
