Australia cricketer Steven Smith ties the knot
Australian cricketer Steven Smith, today, tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Dani Willis. The pair got married in a 'secret' ceremony. Willis took to Instagram to share the moment. Interestingly, Smith had proposed to Willis, in the most romantic fashion, in New York atop the famous Rockefeller Center. Here is more on the same.
The couple had stated, earlier, this year that they were planning to tie the knot soon. The couple had got engaged in July 2017. Smith too shared a post on Instagram and wrote, "Today I got to marry my best friend. What an absolutely incredible day. @dani_willis looked unbelievable beautiful." The ceremony was held at Bendooley Estate in Sydney.
In attendance were several of Smith's Australian team-mates. Aaron Finch, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins and Moises Henriques were all seen enjoying their former captain's wedding. Smith is currently serving a 12-month ban for involvement in a ball-tampering scandal against South Africa. He is into his sixth month and could return to the national team next March.
According to a report in Daily Mail, there were rumors that the marriage was set to get cancelled post Smith's sacking. These two weren't spotted together for long, which added fuel to these reports. But the rumors have been quashed as the duo withstood the challenging period. Back then, Smith had praised Dani for being supportive and called her an absolute rock.
