The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the recently concluded Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, saw 20 teams compete in several riveting matches. India were crowned the champions, winning their third T20 World Cup title. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will receive a whopping $3 million (approximately ₹27.48 crore) as their share of the prize money.

Runners-up New Zealand to get $1.6 million

According to a report by The Times of India, runners-up New Zealand were reported to get $1.6 million (around ₹14.65 crore) as their share of the prize money. The two losing semi-finalists, South Africa and England, were reported to have received $790,000 each (around ₹7.24 crore). The ICC has distributed a total prize pool of around ₹120 crore among all participating teams based on their performance in the tournament.

Super 8 and group stage payouts

Teams that reached the Super Eights but couldn't make the semi-finals were reported to earn $380,000 each (approximately ₹3.48 crore). Meanwhile, every team that participated in the group stage will get $250,000 (around ₹2.29 crore).

India's journey to their third T20 World Cup title was nothing short of spectacular. In the final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, the likes of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan powered India to a mammoth 255/5. New Zealand, in reply, was bowled out for just 159 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel were instrumental in this win, sharing seven wickets. Samson was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his phenomenal run.
