Sushil Kumar's name missing from entry list on CWG website

The 2018 Commonwealth Games are just 5 days away and ace Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar's name has gone missing from the official entry list on the Gold Coast 2018 website. The 34-year-old is supposed to compete in the 74 kg freestyle category. Sushil Kumar is a two-time Olympic medalist and is one of the favorites to bag a medal for India.

Wrestling Federation of India claims it is a technical error

"It could be a technical error since...We have raised the issue with the IOA as well as the event organisers. But since it was already late in the night in Gold Coast, we will know the actual reason on Friday." WFI Assistant Secretary Tomar said.

Sushil's name found if searched on the website

However, if searched by his name on the website, Sushil's details pop-up and lists him as a competitor in the men's freestyle 74 kg event. The Wrestling Federation of India has no idea why his name was excluded. He is one of India's biggest hopes to clinch a gold but now he will get to know the details of his participation only on Friday.

IOA President throws his support behind Sushil

"I have asked our contingent officials to find out what has gone wrong. Everything is clear from our end, all the paperwork was done in time and we have also received his accreditation card." IOA president Narinder Batra said.

This is Sushil's first major tournament since 2014

Sushil hasn't competed in a major tournament since 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He could not participate in the 2016 Rio games after a feud with the federation. Sushil was also embroiled in a controversy earlier this year. During the CWG trials his supporters got involved in physical altercation with Parveen Rana's entourage.
