Champions League semi-finals: Liverpool vs Roma, Real vs Bayern
Champions League semi-final draws are finally out. If you are a Liverpool fan you will be glad, but if you follow Bayern you might be saying 'not Real again'. Real Madrid have knocked out Bayern Munich twice (2016-17 and 2013-14). The two legs between Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid and Liverpool vs Roma will take place on April 24/25 and May 1/2.
Bayern Munich face Real Madrid challenge yet again
Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich will host defending champions Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of the semi-final. The Germans will then travel to the Spanish capital for the second leg. Real Madrid ousted Bayern Munich from the tournament in last year's quarter-final and went on to win the Champions League. Will they do the same this time too?
Real Madrid are favourites to win Champions League
Real Madrid have made it to their 8th successive Champions League semi-final, thanks to the remarkable Cristiano Ronaldo. They are on the hunt to become the first team in the modern era to lift the Champions League title in three consecutive seasons. The 12-time winners are the favourites to win the title on May 26 in Kiev.
Liverpool get lucky after drawing Roma
Premier League giants Liverpool will host Italian outfit AS Roma at Anfield in the first leg of the semi-final. The return leg will be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Both sides have been absent from the semi-finals of the Champions League for a while now. Liverpool's last appearance came in 2007/08, while Roma's only appearance being the 1983/84 campaign.
All four are deserving semi-finalists
Liverpool thrashed a high flying Manchester City to book a place in the semi-finals. Roma were even more impressive after stunning Barcelona with an impressive comeback to overturn the 4-1 deficit. Real Madrid survived a scare after Ronaldo's last-minute penalty halted Juventus come back. Bayern made it through despite a goalless draw against Sevilla.
