Reliving all India vs Pakistan matches in Cricket World Cup

India and Pakistan face each other in match number 22 of the ICC World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. This would be the seventh World Cup meeting between the two arch-rivals. So far, India have won all the previous six clashes against Pakistan. Here we go down the memory lane and relive all the World Cup matches.

1992 World Cup
1992 World Cup: Azharuddin-led India defend paltry total

Mohammad Azharuddin-led Indian cricket team defended a paltry total of 216 against Pakistan at the SCG in 1992. Sachin Tendulkar's unbeaten 62-ball 54 was the highlight of India's innings as Mushtaq Ahmed was the chief tormentor for Pakistan. In reply, a stroke-filled knock by Aamir Sohail set the tone for Pakistan. But after his dismissal, Pakistan collapsed to be bowled out for 173.

1996 World Cup
1996 World Cup: India seal a notable quarter-final win

This is a match that would always be remembered for the epic send-off by Venkatesh Prasad to Aamir Sohail. Batting first, India posted a challenging 287/6. Navjot Singh Sidhu (93) was the top run-scorer. In reply, Sohail was all pumped up as he scored at a brisk rate. After his dismissal, India gained control of the proceedings. Pakistan managed 248/9 in their chase.

1999 World Cup

20 years ago, India thrashed Pakistan in the 1999 edition of the World Cup at Old Trafford. Batting first, India could only manage 227/6. Azhar and Rahul Dravid scored fifties. Pakistan needed to plan the chase well, but they faltered under pressure. A match-winning spell by Prasad (5/27) won the game for India in a comfortable manner. Pakistan were bowled out for 180.

2003 World Cup
2003 World Cup: Tendulkar masterclass floors Pakistan

The 2003 World Cup meet between India and Pakistan saw Sachin producing a gem of an innings. Batting first, Pakistan saw Saeed Anwar scoring a brilliant 101. But the others couldn't quite capitalize as the team was restricted to 273/7. In reply, Sachin got into the groove and perfected the chase. He scored a 75-ball 98. Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh got India home.

2011 World Cup
2011 World Cup: Sloppy Pakistan lose by 29 runs

India and Pakistan met in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup. Batting first, India managed only 260/9 after Wahab Riaz's splendid five-wicket haul. Tendulkar (85) was dropped on numerous occasions and was India's top run-scorer. In reply, Pakistani batsmen got the starts, but couldn't convert them. Misbah-ul-Haq scored a gritty 56 as India won the encounter by 29 runs.

2015 World Cup
2015 World Cup: India claim impressive 76-run win

In the 2015 edition, India batted well at the Adelaide Oval to post 300/7. Virat Kohli (107), Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74) were among the runs. Right-arm pacer Sohail Khan picked up five wickets for Pakistan. Misbah scored a sublime 86-ball 74, but nobody else took the initiative. India sealed a famous 76-run win.
