Reasons why South Africa won't win 2019 World Cup

    What's the story

As we get closer to the ICC World Cup 2019, the anticipation regarding teams and their campaigns is gathering pace.

When we look at South Africa, they have several match-winners in their ranks and one thinks that it could take something special to beat them.

However, on analyzing closely, we feel Proteas might not win the World Cup, this term.

    Here's why.

    Reason 1

Opening an issue for South Africa

South Africa might struggle to lay the foundation through their openers.

Quinton de Kock is in strong form with the bat, but the same cannot be said about Aiden Markram or Hashim Amla.

Either of the two will be given the task of opening the innings.

Markram averages just 29.58 with the bat and hasn't hit a century.

Amla has struggled in recent times.

    Reason 2

SA too dependent on Faf du Plessis

The Proteas seem to be over dependent on skipper Faf du Plessis for doing the bulk of the task in the middle.

That's where the rest of the unit needs to step up and take responsibility.

Having said that, someone like JP Duminy hasn't been able to bring in the consistency level required.

David Miller hasn't been able to score freely, as well.

    Reason 3

SA have a tendency to choke

South Africa have played a consistent brand of cricket under skipper Faf du Plessis.

They have enjoyed success since he took over.

However, they are known as chokers for a reason. They often go far, but they lose the plot during pivotal moments.

This thing could play in their minds once again if they reach the semis.

    Information

SA need their batsmen to compliment the bowling unit

SA have a dream bowling attack on offer and that could suit them well in England and Wales. Their bowlers could help them win games, but it's the batting that is a worry. SA need to find a way and produce the goods.
