
More Indians being forcibly removed from Canada than ever

Canada is on track to forcibly remove a record number of Indian nationals this year, surpassing the previous high in 2024. According to data from the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), 1,891 Indians had been removed by July 28, compared to just 625 in 2019. Last year, a total of 1,997 Indians were forcibly removed by Canadian authorities.

Peel Regional Police collaborate with CBSA for judicial proceedings
In a recent development, the Peel Regional Police (PRP) announced its collaboration with the CBSA to determine if the removal of accused foreign nationals could be part of judicial proceedings. This was in relation to eight men arrested for allegedly stealing 450 pieces of mail worth over CA$400,000. The accused are Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh, and Upinderjit Singh.

Indians top the list of ongoing removals inventory
Indians top the country-wise list of ongoing removals inventory with 6,837 cases. They are followed by Mexicans (5,170) and United States citizens (1,734). Of the total inventory of 30,733 cases, 27,103 were refugee claimants. Indians also form the largest group among asylum seekers. Since 2019, the number of Indians being forcibly removed has been on the rise.
