Gunman kills one Indian-American, injures another in Georgia

A 28-year-old gunman went on a shooting rampage at two convenience stores in Rome, Georgia, on Tuesday night, killing one Indian-American and seriously injuring another. It is yet to be known why Lamar Rashad Nicholson would gun down 44-year-old Parmjit Singh at his Hi Tech Quick Stop and then go on to shoot 30-year-old Parthey Patel, a clerk at Elm Street Food and Beverage.

    Here's what happened

The crime spot's video footage recovered by the police shows Nicholson walking into the store and firing three rounds at Singh, who was standing behind the counter. Nicholson didn't try to loot Singh's store. Within 10 minutes, Nicholson was at Patel's store, which he robbed, before shooting him. While Singh died at the spot, Patel is in critical condition at Floyd Medical Center.

The shooter is a convicted felon

Nicholson, a convicted felon, has been arrested on several counts, including murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing a crime, reported the Rome News-Tribune. He was also jailed last month, for violently snatching a 3-year-old girl by the arm and cursing in front of her and another infant. Currently, he's been held without bond in the Floyd County jail.
