In a bizarre move, a dog has been sentenced to death in Pakistan for biting a child. Assistant Commissioner Raja Saleem of Punjab province, who declared the punishment, said his decision was based on humanitarian grounds. The dog has already completed a one-week sentence in prison over the same 'crime', his owner Jamil claimed, pleading "any further punishment would be unfair".

A case against Jamil is also ongoing in a civil court. Meanwhile, he has filed an appeal with the Additional Deputy Commissioner against the judgement. He said he would go everywhere he needed to get justice for his dog.
