Japanese businessman welcomes death with 'farewell' party

Meera and Jai of 'Love Aaj Kal' taught us how to be happy and celebrate even when you are undergoing a sad experience, like a breakup. A Japanese businessman has done something similar. Satoru Anzaki, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, is celebrating his last moments of life. Two days ago, he invited 1,000 friends and business associates to a grand goodbye party.

    At times of terminal illnesses...

Eighty-year-old Anzaki, hailing from Tokushima of Shikoku Island, is the former president of Komatsu Ltd. In October, he was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer, but chose not to receive treatment "given the side effects". Rather than mourn, he decided to celebrate with his loved ones. "Being despondent is not in my nature." On November 20, he sent out a newspaper ad announcing the party.

Dances and fun times at Anzaki's 'farewell' party

For the December 11 party, he booked a Tokyo hotel and invited friends, work acquaintances, employees and former schoolmates. The venue was decorated with memories of his life. There were also traditional Awa dancers to lighten the mood. Apparently, Anzaki made sure to shake hands with as many people as he could. As for the party, it was a "very fun event", attendees agreed.
