California: Woman mercilessly abandons 3-days-old puppies in dumpster, arrested
A woman, identified as Deborah Sue Culwell, was arrested in California after she dumped a plastic bag full of puppies next to a dumpster. The incident was recorded on a surveillance camera, which was installed inside a store nearby in Coachella. Later, the Riverside County Animal Services shared the details of the incident in a Facebook post along with the video.
Camera recorded whole incident, 7 puppies found in the bag
The footage from the camera showed the woman getting out of a Jeep with a plastic bag. In the video, the woman can be seen walking towards the dumpster and she tossed the bag near it before she drove away. According to media reports, there were seven puppies inside that plastic bag and all were 3-days-old and were believed to be terrier mixes.

In its Facebook post, the Riverside County Animal Services wrote, "Shortly afterwards, a passer-by, named John, rummaged through the trash and noticed the bag and brought it into the Napa store." "If not for the Good Samaritan's actions, the puppies may not have survived much longer," it added. After the video went viral, there was an outrage among the people on social media.
People demanded arrest, sought funds to help puppies
Many people demanded that the woman should be arrested for animal cruelty. One of the users wrote in the comments section, "Humans are getting out of hand with man's best friend." "Some people just don't get it and have no common sense," wrote another user. Meanwhile, many people also sought a fund for puppies where they could help them.
Puppies have been taken to a rescue shelter in California
Later, the Riverside County Animal Services shared the update on the woman's arrest. According to reports, all the puppies that were found near the dumpster survived and are currently being taken care of by a rescue shelter in Orange County, California. Moreover, the authorities are also trying to find out the mother of the puppies so that they can be reunited with their family.
38 dogs found living in filthy conditions at her house
During the investigation, the police found 38 more dogs living in filthy conditions at the 54-year-old woman's house in Coachella. Although most of them are found in healthy condition, the police have sent them to Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms for further care. According to reports, the animals are not up for adoption yet as they are confiscated.
