Maruti Suzuki launches 2020 Ignis hatchback at Rs. 4.9 lakh

2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the family car which made its debut at the recently-concluded Auto Expo, has now been launched in India. The hatchback is available in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, and it starts at Rs. 4.89 lakh. The facelifted model comes with minor design tweaks, an updated infotainment system, and a BS6-ready petrol engine. Here's our roundup.

2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis: At a glance

The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis retains the compact look of the outgoing model. However, as an updated model, it gets a redesigned front fascia featuring an updated bumper, revised grille, and a new fog lamp housing. The car sports faux skid plates on both the ends, roof rails, and indicator-mounted ORVMs. Moreover, it gets two new color options: Lucent Orange and Turquoise Blue.

    Inside the cabin

The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis sports a five-seater cabin featuring a semi-digital instrument cluster and a new centrally-mounted infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The car features fabric upholstery with grey-colored accents around the dashboard, door pockets and multifunctional steering wheel. Apart from that, it gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, and a reverse parking camera with sensors.

    Power and performance

The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter petrol engine which comes mated to a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The unit is capable of producing 83PS of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque.

    Finally, what is the pricing?

The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis carries a premium of up to Rs. 8,000 over the outgoing model. The car starts at Rs. 4.89 lakh for the entry-level Sigma variant and goes up to Rs. 7.19 lakh for the top-end Alpha model. At this price point, it takes on the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Tata Tiago.
