German automaker BMW has unveiled the facelifted version of its X4 SUV coupe in India. It is offered in a single M Sport Black Shadow Edition trim. The car is locally produced in the carmaker's Chennai plant and is available in two variants: xDrive30i and xDrive30d. The vehicle sports a refreshed look both inside and out and offers a bevy of tech-based features.

    Why does this story matter?

    • BMW launched the facelifted X4 globally last June and it didn't take much time for the SUV coupe to become a fan favorite.
    • It seems to have invoked the same reaction in India as well, as all 50 units of the four-wheeler allotted for India were sold out much before its debut today.
    • It is pitted against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.

The SUV runs on 20-inch blacked-out alloy wheels

The 2022 BMW X4 features a sculpted hood, a sloping roofline, a large kidney grille, reworked bumpers, vertical air vents, and Matrix LED headlights. On the sides, it has blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMS, sharp body lines, and blacked-out 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear side is graced by LED taillamps and a raked windscreen. It is offered in Black Sapphire Metallic and Brooklyn Gray Metallic shades.

    Multiple engine choices are offered

The new BMW X4 is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that makes 252hp/350Nm and a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder diesel motor that churns out 265hp/620Nm. They are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

It has premium cabin with Sensatec leather upholstery

The BMW X4 has a luxurious cabin featuring Sensatec leather, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control, a Harmon Kardon sound system, foldable rear seats, and welcome carpet lights. It packs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.35-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Six airbags, vehicle stability control, driver drowsiness detection, a 360-degree-view camera, cruise control, and cornering brake control ensure passengers' safety.

2022 BMW X4: Pricing and availability

The 2022 BMW X4 xDrive30i is priced at Rs. 70.5 lakh, while the X4 xDrive30d carries a price-tag of Rs. 72.5 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). It has already been sold out in India.
