Tamil Nadu: Foundation stone laid for Tata Motors' ₹9,000cr facility
Tata Motors is gearing up to set up a new manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, pouring in ₹9,000 crore into the venture. Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for the project today. The ceremony took place at Panapakkam, around 115km away from Chennai. This move is expected to create 5,000 new jobs in the area.
Dignitaries attend groundbreaking ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including senior DMK Ministers Durai Murugan and TRB Rajaa, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, and Tata Sons Ltd Chairman N Chandrasekaran. The event marked a significant milestone in Tata Motors' expansion plans. This development follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Tata Motors and the Tamil Nadu government in March 2023.
CM Stalin lauds Tata Motors' investment decision
CM Stalin was all smiles about Tata Motors setting up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. He said, "Tamil Nadu is the first investment destination not only for big companies that operate in India but also for multinational corporations." He also mentioned that Chandrasekaran, who was there at the event, is a source of pride for the state as he leads a globally recognized company.
