Maruti Suzuki S-Presso receives over 10,000 bookings in 10 days
The recently launched S-Presso by Maruti Suzuki has created a buzz in the Indian automobile market. The company has received over 10,000 bookings in just 10 days since the mini SUV went on sale, achieving an average of 1,000 bookings every day. This number is significant given the slowdown in the automobile sector. Here's more.
What's the reason for such great response?
There is a huge craze for SUVs in India; understanding market's demand, Maruti Suzuki has launched a spacious mini SUV at a much lower price and equipped it with modern features as well as a BS6-compliant engine. The result is the number of bookings that we are seeing now, despite a severe sales downfall in the automobile sector.
Here's a look at its pricing and rivals
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is offered in four variants (Standard, LXI, VXI, and VXI+) and ten trim levels. As for the pocket pinch, the car starts at Rs. 3.69 lakh for the Standard model and goes upto Rs. 4.91 lakh for the top variant. At this price point, it takes on the likes of Datsun redi-GO, Hyundai Santro, and Renault KWID.
Meanwhile, let's recall Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with a compact boxy design featuring Vitara Brezza-like front grille, and body-colored ORVMs as well as door handles. The blacked-out front as well as rear bumpers, high ground clearance, and a tall hatch give it an SUV-like feel. Further, depending on the variant, it is available with 13-inch or 14-inch steel wheels.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the S-Presso gets a 5-seater cabin with fabric upholstery, body-colored highlights, and a circular instrument console mounted unconventionally in the center. The car gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, it also offers safety features like dual-front airbags (optional), ABS, rear parking sensors, speed alerts, and seat belt reminder.
Finally, what about power and performance?
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-liter petrol engine which is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. This engine is capable of producing 67bhp of power and 90Nm of peak torque. Also, depending on the variant, the car promises an ARAI-certified mileage between 21.4kmpl and 21.7kmpl.
