Mercedes-AMG G 63 (facelift) previewed in spy shots; design revealed
German automaker Mercedes-Benz is expected to unveil the facelifted version of its AMG G 63 SUV by early 2023. It should also arrive in India. In the latest development, a camouflaged mule of the upcoming car has been spied on a test, revealing important design details. The pictures suggest that it will have revised bumpers, tweaked taillamps, and new alloy wheels, among other highlights.
Why does this story matter?
The Mercedes-AMG G 63 (facelift) will offer better looks and more features as compared to the outgoing model. It should attract a lot of buyers in the international markets. When the vehicle makes its way to India, it will debut as a completely built unit (CBU). Upon its arrival, the competition in the SUV segment will be raised significantly.
The car will have squared windows and tailgate-mounted spare wheel
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 will have a muscular bonnet, a large grille, a wide air dam, circular headlights, and refreshed bumpers. On the sides, it will be flanked by squared windows, ORVMs, side-steppers, flared wheel arches, exhaust tips, and designer alloy wheels. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel and sleek LED taillamps will grace the rear end of the vehicle.
It will run on a 577hp, 4.0-liter engine
The facelifted Mercedes-AMG G 63 is expected to be fueled by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine that puts out a maximum power of 577hp and a peak torque of 850Nm. The mill will be linked to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The SUV should get a tablet-like infotainment panel
The upcoming Mercedes-AMG G 63 is expected to have a luxurious cabin, featuring a redesigned dashboard, auto climate control, rear AC vents, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It should house a tablet-like MBUX touchscreen infotainment panel with support for the latest connectivity facilities. The safety of the passengers should be ensured by multiple airbags, ABS, a rear-view camera, and EBD.

The pricing and availability details of the new-generation Mercedes-AMG G 63 in India will be disclosed at the time of its launch. However, it should carry a premium over the standard G-Class, which starts at Rs. 1.64 crore (ex-showroom).
