Mercedes-Maybach EQS: India's most expensive EV is coming next month
Mercedes is gearing up to introduce its most expensive electric vehicle (EV), the Maybach EQS SUV, in India on September 5. The luxury EV is expected to cost around ₹4 crore (ex-showroom). At that price, it will be the most expensive luxury electric vehicle available for purchase in the country. The Maybach EQS is the SUV version of the Maybach S-Class electric sedan and made its global debut last year at the Shanghai Auto Show in China.
Maybach EQS: Mercedes's second EV launch in India this year
The upcoming Maybach EQS will be the second EV launched by Mercedes in India this year, following the introduction of the EQA electric SUV in July. It is also the first electric model from Mercedes's luxury division and is based on the EQS SUV. The vehicle features an exclusive dual-tone exterior color theme, Maybach badging, and other unique features that set it apart from its counterparts.
Maybach EQS to feature high-performance electric motors
Internationally, Mercedes offers two variants of the EQS electric SUV: the EQS 680 and the EQS 580. However, for India, it is likely that only the EQS 680 version will be available. This variant comes with two electric motors and all-wheel drive technology. It also boasts a 107.8 kWh battery pack that can power the vehicle for up to 600km without recharging, ensuring long-distance travel without frequent stops for charging.
Maybach EQS: A blend of luxury and performance
The Maybach EQS promises impressive performance with up to 649hp of power and 950Nm of peak torque. It can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 210km/h. Mercedes will offer five drive modes: Eco, Sport, Off-road, Individual, and Maybach mode.
Inside the Maybach EQS: A look at the high-end amenities
The interior of the Maybach EQS is equipped with a range of high-end amenities. These include a new MBUX Hyperscreen with exclusive Maybach graphics, a digital driver display, and individual 11.6-inch infotainment screens for second-row passengers. Other highlights include powered curtains, rear-seat controls for infotainment functions, a 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system, and ambient lighting with 253 LEDs and 64 selectable colors.
Maybach EQS: Ensuring safety with advanced features
The Maybach EQS is equipped with 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ADAS technology, ABS, EBD, traction control and hill hold assist. These safety features are designed to provide maximum protection for passengers and enhance the overall driving experience. The launch of this vehicle will mark a significant milestone in Mercedes's electric vehicle journey in India by introducing its most expensive EV to the market.
