Omoda and Jaecoo unveil hybrid engine with 48% thermal efficiency

Auto

Omoda and Jaecoo have introduced a new internal combustion engine with 48% thermal efficiency—higher than most hybrids out there.
Announced at the 2025 International User Summit, this engine is part of their push to cut fuel use and emissions while advancing hybrid efficiency as part of their broader electrification strategy.

Engine packs advanced thermal insulation and triple-link hyperbolic mechanisms

It packs a 26:1 compression ratio, 35% exhaust gas recirculation, triple-link hyperbolic mechanisms, and advanced thermal insulation.
Their current Super Hybrid System already delivers 44.5% efficiency with just 6L/100km fuel use, plus an electric-only range of up to 90km and handy Vehicle-to-Load support.

Most hybrids have around 38-45% efficiency

Most hybrid engines sit around 38-45% efficiency. Hitting 48% sets a new bar for hybrids, meaning better mileage and lower emissions for future cars.
If you're into tech that helps the planet (and your wallet), this is one to watch.
