2020 Tata Nexon spotted testing in India, launch imminent
Tata Motors Ltd. is working to launch the 2020 edition of its popular subcompact SUV, the Nexon, in India at the upcoming Auto Expo in February, according to GaadiWaadi.com. The publication has also shared spy shots of the car, revealing its design highlights. Reportedly, the facelifted model will feature BS6-compliant engines to meet the stricter emission norms. Here's our roundup.
The 2020 Nexon is likely to offer LED DRLs
Going by the spy shots, the 2020 Nexon is expected to offer a compact look, featuring a sloping roof design and a revamped bumper layout. The test mule was also seen with roof rails, alloy wheels, and roof-mounted spoiler as well as a shark-fin antenna. For lighting, the car would house sharper looking projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps, and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
The details about the interiors of the facelifted Nexon are not known as of now. However, we expect it to offer a spacious five-seater cabin with rear-seat armrest, automatic climate control, and multifunctional steering wheel. The car is also likely to get a semi-digital instrument cluster, along with a touch-screen infotainment panel, and standard safety features like dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, and more.
Power and performance
The 2020 Tata Nexon range will reportedly be offered in two BS6-compliant engine options: a 1.2-liter petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel. The petrol unit produces 110PS of power and 170Nm of peak torque, while the diesel mill churns out 110PS and 260Nm. Both these engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox option.
Finally, how much will it cost?
As of now, there is no word on the pricing of the facelifted Tata Nexon. However, considering the updates, it is likely to carry a little premium over the outgoing model, which falls under Rs. 6.58-11.1 lakh price bracket. Lastly, it will lock horns with rivals such as Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Kia Seltos.
