Tata launches fully-electric sedan, Tigor EV at Rs. 9.44 lakh

Tata Motors Ltd. has launched the updated version of Tigor EV in India. Starting at Rs. 9.44 lakh, the fully-electric sedan is available in XE+, XM+, and XT+ variants. Interestingly, this model will also be available for individual buyers (at a comparatively higher price) as against the Tigor's previous EVs which were exclusive to commercial buyers. Here's our roundup.

Tata Tigor EV: At a glance

The Tigor EV features a compact look with a chrome-finished grille, coupe-inspired roof, and alloy wheels (exclusive to top models). The fully-electric sedan also gets an EV badging on the grille and EV decals on the front doors. For lighting, the car houses projector headlamps, fog lamps, and LED taillights.

    Inside the cabin

Inside, the Tigor EV features a five-seater cabin with fabric upholstery, height adjustable driver seat, and automatic climate control. As for electronic features, it gets a Harman-sourced 2-DIN audio system with support for Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity. The sedan also offers safety features like dual-front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensor, and engine immobilizer for anti-theft provisions.

    Power and performance

The updated Tigor EV is powered by a 72V, 3-phase AC induction motor which is capable of producing 40.23bhp of power and 105Nm of peak torque. The fully-electric sedan promises an ARAI-certified range of 213km, which is 71km more than its predecessor.

    What about pricing and availability?

The updated Tigor EV will be available for both the private as well as commercial buyers. After all discounts and subsidies, the fully-electric sedan will be available at a starting price of Rs. 9.44 lakh for the commercial buyers whereas the individual buyers will have to shell out Rs. 12.59 lakh.
