Tesla's new EV roof could bring Starlink internet to your car
Auto
Tesla just published a patent application for a special car roof that can hide satellite antennas, likely for Starlink, inside.
Instead of blocking signals like regular metal or glass roofs, this one uses tough polymers (think: polycarbonate, ABS, and ASA) so satellite internet can get through—while still keeping you safe.
Why it matters: better connectivity everywhere
With this design, Teslas could automatically switch between cellular and Starlink networks when you're in areas with weak signal.
That means smoother software updates, streaming on the go, reliable Autopilot data—even off-grid adventures without losing connection.
It's a smart upgrade from today's clunky external antennas.
