Subaru Brataroo is a stunt machine with a turbocharged engine
What's the story
Car culture company Hoonigan and rally driver Travis Pastrana have transformed the classic Subaru Brat into a high-performance stunt machine. The new vehicle, dubbed the "Brataroo," packs an impressive 670hp and features active aerodynamics. It was built by Vermont Sportscar, the same company that makes Pastrana's Subaru WRX rally cars. The original Brat's 1.6-liter engine has been replaced with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four mill for this project.
Power upgrade
The new engine produces almost 10 times more power
The new engine in the Brataroo produces a whopping 670hp and 922Nm of torque, almost 10 times more than the original Brat. It can rev up to over 9,500rpm. The car's body has been completely redesigned with carbon fiber and comes with several active aerodynamic devices like Pastrana's previous "Family Huckster" Subaru GL. These devices help adjust the car's balance while airborne, giving drivers control over its pitch and rotation.
Interior design
The vehicle will make its debut in Gymkhana series
The Brataroo's dashboard has been replaced with a carbon fiber one, while the original wooden accents have been retained through flax-composite panels. The air conditioning controls are now used to adjust the car's active aero. The vehicle will make its debut in the upcoming edition of the long-running Gymkhana video series, which will be shot in Australia.
