Karnataka polls: 'Common-Man' Rahul Gandhi takes the Bengaluru-metro, eats kulfi
Pulling out all stops to make his presence felt ahead of the Karnataka elections, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday went from hopping into a crowded metro in Bengaluru to obliging commuters with selfies to having kulfi at a roadside ice-cream vendor after a restaurant lunch. Gandhi, who's on a two-day visit, also visited a bookstore, where CM Siddaramaiah gifted him five books.

Gandhi, accompanied by Siddaramaih (who bought the metro tickets for all), senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge and state Congress in-charge KC Venugopal took a metro ride between two major government seats, Vidhana Soudha and MG Road station. After de-boarding, Gandhi took the recently renovated vehicle-free pedestrian plaza to reach 'Bookworm' on upscale Church Street. Here, Siddaramaiah bought and gifted Gandhi five books.
Next stop: Koshy's, where Nehru and Indira Gandhi visited
Next, Gandhi paid a trip to the iconic Koshy's on St.Marks Road, which was also visited by his great-grandfather, India's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru, his grandmother, former PM Indira Gandhi, and Queen Elizabeth II. Gandhi ended his 'common man' outing by having kulfi from a roadside vendor. Later, he paid a condolence visit to veteran Congresswoman Margaret Alva, who lost her husband on Saturday.
