Airtel offering free 4G hotspot device: Details here

    What's the story

Taking on Reliance Jio in the wireless mobile broadband service, Bharti Airtel is now offering the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot device for free with its rental plans.

This means if you subscribe to any of the 6-month advance rental plans offered by Airtel, you will get the Rs. 999 worth dongle at no additional cost.

    Here's more on Airtel's 4G hotspot plans.

    Freebies

    And, which are those plans

Presently, Airtel provides a couple of 6-month advance rental plans.

Firstly, there's a Rs. 2,400 plan which offers 50GB of high-speed monthly data. However, if you require more data, you can try the Rs. 3,600 plan which comes with 100GB of monthly data.

Notably, once you exhaust the FUP limit, you will get free data at a reduced speed of 80Kbps.

    Regular plans

Airtel also offers monthly rental plans

In case you're not looking for a long-term 6-month plan, Airtel also has more affordable monthly plans.

Firstly, you have the Rs. 399 plan which offers 50GB high-speed data for one month. For more data, the telco offers a Rs. 599 monthly plan which comes with 100GB data.

However, with these plans, you will have to pay Rs. 999 for the 4G Hotspot device.

    Use cases

Meanwhile, here's understanding the benefits of a 4G hotspot device

The first and foremost benefit of a 4G hotspot device is that it brings high-speed 4G internet speed to non-4G devices.

Moreover, you can connect multiple devices using a single hotspot dongle (up to devices on Airtel's device).

Lastly, a present-day hotspot device offers a decent battery life while its pocket-friendly form factor helps you access high-speed internet even on the go.

    Competition

Jio also offers a host of Wi-Fi dongles

Reliance Jio also offers a bunch of 4G Wi-Fi hotspot devices. The range starts at Rs. 999 and goes up to Rs. 1,999, depending on the model.

However, unlike Airtel, Jio doesn't offer bundled plans with its dongles. This means you can use your dongle with any prepaid plan or 4G data voucher offered by the company.
