BigBasket sees Dhanteras boom: Gold sales up 143%, silver 234%

BigBasket, the Tata Group-owned online grocery platform, has witnessed a massive spike in the sales of gold and silver coins this Dhanteras. The company said it saw a whopping 143% jump in gold coin sales and an even bigger 234% increase in silver coin sales year-on-year (YoY). Along with this, the sale of pooja essentials such as diyas, flowers, and offerings also saw a growth of 54%.

The company's Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer Seshu Kumar said that "Dhanteras is a time for prosperity, devotion, and togetherness." He added that BigBasket wanted to ensure its customers could celebrate without compromise by providing everything from auspicious coins to perfect gifts in minutes.
