BSNL's Rs. 1,188 plan offers unlimited calling for 345 days

In a bid to attract new customers and retain existing ones, state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new Rs. 1,188 prepaid plan with long-term validity and free calling benefits. Dubbed as the Rs. 1,188 Marutham prepaid voucher, this new plan went live on July 25 and will be active for 90 days. Here are the benefits of this plan.

Details about the plan
The new BSNL Rs. 1,188 Marutham Plan comes with unlimited voice calling benefit to any network across India including Mumbai and Delhi circles which are managed by MTNL. Alongside the calling benefit, subscribers will also get 5GB of data and a total of 1,200 SMSes for a validity of 345 days. Notably, once the 5GB FUP limit is exhausted, BSNL will charge 25p/MB.

Currently, this plan is available in Tamil Nadu only
Presently, the Rs. 1,188 Marutham plan is live only in Tamil Nadu and will be available on a promotional basis for 90 days. Moreover, it remains unclear if BSNL will bring the plan to other telecom circles or not.

Meanwhile, BSNL has also introduced two new long-term prepaid plans that offer unlimited calling and data benefits. Firstly, there's Rs. 1,399 plan which comes with 1.5GB daily data, 50 daily SMSes, and unlimited calling for 270 days. The telco has also launched a Rs. 1,001 prepaid plan which offers the same benefits as the Rs. 1,399 plan but with 9GB data offering.

The Rs. 1,399 and Rs. 1,001 prepaid plans are live in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle, and will be available till October 22. Further, the free calling benefit on these plans is applicable to all circles except Mumbai and New Delhi.
