Chinese companies can now export gallium, germanium, antimony to US
What's the story
China has suspended its ban on the export of "dual-use items" related to gallium, germanium, antimony, and super-hard materials to the United States. The suspension will remain in effect until November 27, 2026, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Commerce. The ministry had first announced this ban in December 2024.
Additional suspensions
Lifting of other export controls
Along with the suspension of the export ban on dual-use items, China has also lifted other export controls imposed on October 9. These included expanded restrictions on certain rare earth and lithium battery materials.
Trade thaw
Possible thaw in trade tensions
The latest move by China comes after an agreement between President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump to reduce tariffs and suspend other trade measures for a year. This development suggests a possible thaw in the long-standing trade tensions between the two countries, based on the context of the agreement.
