HCC's ₹1,000cr rights issue gets full thumbs up

Business

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) just wrapped up a ₹1,000 crore rights issue—fully subscribed!
The offer let existing shareholders buy new shares at ₹12.50 each, which was about 34% cheaper than the market price earlier this month.

How did the rights issue work?

Shareholders could snag 277 extra shares for every 630 they already owned.
The window to trade these rights closed last week, and after this round, HCC's total shares will jump from about 182 crore to nearly 262 crore.

What happened to HCC's stock?

Right after the news broke that the issue was fully subscribed, HCC's share price spiked by 9%, hitting ₹20.22.
Even with this boost, though, the stock is still down about 38% so far in 2025—a reminder of how much it's bounced around over the past year.
