India hits pause on annual clean energy targets as backlog grows
India just put its yearly clean energy tender goals on hold after a backlog emerged — more than 42 GW of auctioned capacity have yet to be awarded power supply contracts (as of Jan 29, 2026).
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy says the focus now is on clearing this backlog before announcing new bids.
