Indian Oil Corp plans green hydrogen fuel retail network

Indian Oil (IOC) is gearing up to roll out green hydrogen fuel stations nationwide as part of its $30 billion push to go carbon neutral by 2046.
This move backs the government's National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to cut India's reliance on fossil fuels—big news for anyone rooting for a cleaner future.

TL;DR

IOC's new plant in Panipat

IOC's massive new plant at Panipat, set to be ready by December 2024, will produce 10,000 tons of green hydrogen each year—the largest project of its kind in India.
Dedicated dispensing stations (separate from regular petrol pumps) are also in the works, with extra safety features.
For now, IOC runs two hydrogen stations and supports about 15 fuel cell busses in Delhi.

IOC goes head-to-head with Reliance, Adani

IOC plans to sell green hydrogen at $4.66 per kilo, already close to the government's goal of bringing prices below $5—and aiming for $1 in the long run.
This puts IOC head-to-head with private giants like Reliance and Adani as all race to lead India's clean energy transition.
