Karnataka's new IT policy wants tech to thrive beyond Bengaluru

Business

Karnataka just rolled out its IT Policy for 2025-2030, and it's looking past Bengaluru to give tier-2 cities a real boost.
With ₹445.50 crore set aside as the initial outlay, the total five-year outlay is ₹967.12 crore, with ₹754.62 crore for incentives and ₹212.50 crore for interventions.
The state is offering 16 perks—like relaxed labor laws and permission for companies to run round-the-clock—to help more tech firms set up shop outside the usual hotspots.
There's also a big push to make Karnataka an "AI-native" hub, with only a portion of the total outlay going into projects like Techniverse, which will bring AI/ML labs and cybersecurity centers to new innovation districts.

New programs aim at talent and better city life

The policy isn't just about companies—it's got people in mind too. There are fellowships for women in tech, plus an IT Talent Return Programme to attract skilled folks back home.
To make everyday life smoother, the state plans shared transport routes in partnership with local agencies.
Industry giants like TCS and Infosys helped shape these ideas, hoping they'll spread tech growth—and opportunities—across Karnataka.
