Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi recently celebrated his 63rd birthday with a lavish party in London. The event took place at the exclusive Maddox Club in Mayfair, where table bookings start at a minimum spend of £1,000 (approximately ₹1.18 lakh), per Hindustan Times. Celebration details
Modi shares glimpses of birthday celebrations
Modi took to social media to share videos and photos from his birthday bash. The clips showed him cutting a cake and dancing with friends, including Mallya. The party had a custom song that read "Happy birthday, Lalit. King of smiles." In July this year, too, Modi had shared snippets from another London party where he was seen singing karaoke with Mallya and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Chris Gayle.
Bonding moments
Modi and Mallya's enduring friendship
Modi left India in 2010 and is wanted in the country for allegedly embezzling crores while serving as IPL commissioner. Meanwhile, Mallya is facing extradition requests from India for alleged loan defaults, including from the State Bank of India. Last year, Modi wished Mallya on X, saying he hoped the coming year would be filled with love and laughter. To this, Mallya replied: "Thank you my friend...we both have been wronged in a country we tried to contribute to."
IPL endorsement
Modi praised Mallya's support for IPL
Modi has always praised Mallya for his unwavering support of the IPL. In June, he wrote on X, "He was the first person to support me making the #IPL blindly. Also was its biggest sponsor and has since day one been its most loyal ardent fan and followers." "For which I will always be grateful."
