What's the story

Microsoft India's net profit has grown by a whopping 38.66% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹1,245.2 crore in FY25. The growth is largely attributed to an increase in cloud consumption and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) offerings. This is the first time that Microsoft's Indian subsidiary has crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark in terms of profit.

Revenue growth

Microsoft's India revenue also sees significant rise

Along with the profit surge, Microsoft's India revenue has also seen a massive jump. The company's revenue for FY25 stood at ₹29,303 crore ($3.3 billion), marking a 28% increase from ₹22,891.58 crore in FY24. The total expenses incurred by Microsoft India during this fiscal were reported to be ₹27,624 crore. These impressive numbers come just ahead of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's expected visit to India in December.

Data control

Microsoft to launch in-country data processing in India

To gain market share and customer confidence, especially among governments, Microsoft has announced its plan to launch in-country data processing for Microsoft 365 Copilot interactions. The feature will be available across 15 countries by the end of 2025, starting with India. This move is aimed at meeting the demand for sovereign data and AI controls from governments and highly regulated industries.
