How MTNL's 1Gbps broadband plans fare against JioFiber, Airtel V-Fiber
Taking on the likes of Reliance JioFiber and Airtel V-Fiber, state-owned MTNL has launched its first-ever gigabit broadband plans in New Delhi. The premium plans, starting at Rs. 2,990 per month, offer up to 6,000GB monthly data along with unlimited calling benefits. But how do the MTNL gigabit plans fare against rivals like JioFiber and Airtel V-Fiber? Here's our head-to-head comparison.
MTNL has introduced a couple of 1Gbps broadband plans. The first plan, priced at Rs. 2,990 per month, offers 3,000GB monthly data at 1Gbps broadband speed. Once the monthly limit is reached, user will get unlimited access at 5Mbps. The second one costs Rs. 4,990/month and provides 6,000GB data per month at 1Gbps speed. Notably, both plans also offer unlimited calling benefits as well.
MTNL subscribers who opt for the aforementioned plans will also get an additional 1,000GB of data for the first six months with the Rs. 2,990 plan and 2,000GB of data with the Rs. 4,990 pack. Those who opt for a three-month pack will get up to Rs. 1,670 off while annual subscribers will only have to pay for 10 months.
Like MTNL, JioFiber also offers a couple of gigabit plans. The first pack is a Rs. 3,999/month 'Platinum' pack which offers 2,500GB (FUP limit) of data at up to 1Gbps broadband speed. Beyond the FUP limit, the speed drops to 1Mbps. The company also has a Rs. 8,499 worth 'Titanium' monthly plan which provides 5,000GB of data (FUP) at up to 1Gbps speed.
JioFiber's Platinum and Titanium plans also come with a host of bundled benefits including free voice calls, video calling/conferencing, zero-latency gaming, Norton security for up to 5 devices, First-Day-First-Show movies, VR experience, and an annual subscription of OTT apps. Moreover, if you opt for the annual Welcome Offer, you'll get an HD/4K TV, 4K Jio set-top box, and Jio Home Gateway device for free.
Meanwhile, Airtel's 'VIP' plan promises up to 1Gbps broadband speed and unlimited data access at Rs. 3,999 per month. However, the plan is not truly unlimited since there is a defined FUP limit of 3,333GB. Once you exhaust this data limit, the speed will be throttled down to 1Mbps. As part of bundled benefits, this premium plan comes with unlimited local/STD calling as well.
Alongside the data and calling benefits, the VIP plan also offers #AirtelThanks benefits including a free 3-month Netflix subscription, Amazon Prime annual subscription, and full access to ZEE5 as well as Airtel's Xstream online streaming service.
