Nandini ghee, butter prices go up: Check rates
Nandini ghee just got pricier—Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has bumped the price up from ₹610 to ₹700 per kg, effective immediately.
Butter isn't spared either, now costing ₹570 per kg, a rise by about 4.78%. This follows an earlier GST-related cut.
Why the hike?
KMF says rising input costs and steady payments of ₹4 per liter to dairy farmers are behind the move.
Even with high milk processing—about one crore liters daily—they're selling some products like skimmed milk powder at a loss.
Still cheaper than private brands
Even after this hike, Nandini ghee stays cheaper than most private brands; for instance, Amul's ghee in Karnataka sells for ₹640 per kg and could go higher soon.
KMF moves about 2,500 tons of ghee every month and tries to keep prices fair while tracking global dairy trends.
