What's the story

Land Rover has unveiled a new avatar of Range Rover Velar, its premium 5-seater SUV. The new model, dubbed 'SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition', comes with more power than the current one and some stunning design changes. It is yet to launch in the Indian market but is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 crore. Here's more about it.

Exterior

Revamped look with Range Rover's class

Developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, the new all-wheel-drive Velar maintains the class of a Range Rover with some fancy upgrades. It packs 21-inch forged alloy wheels with larger brakes, a redesigned bumper on the front and back, and a new front grille. Notably, the front bumper features larger air intakes and the 'Range Rover' lettering on bonnet has also been enhanced.

Interior

More premium cabin with enhanced features

The cabin of the new Velar has been upgraded with quilted leather upholstery, a sportier steering wheel and knurled finishes for the rotary gear controls. Also, you get a panoramic sunroof and heating, cooling, and massaging functions with its 20-way adjustable seats. For staying connected, playing music, and navigating, the car offers a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display and a dual Touchscreen infotainment system.

Power

However, powertrain is the biggest upgrade

Under the hood, Velar's SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition rocks Land Rover's 5.0-liter V8 Supercharged engine. This motor, spotted on Jaguar's F-Type R and XF R sports cars, is tuned to make 543 bhp power and 680 Nm of peak torque. It pairs up with 8-speed automatic transmission and takes the Velar from 0 to 100 in just 4.5 seconds; the top speed is 274 km/hr.

Pricing

Price in India still remains a question

The new Velar is a true beast but is yet to be unveiled in India. Reports suggest Land Rover might launch it in the Indian market sometime later this year or in early 2020 at a price of Rs. 2 crore. The model would come in multiple color options, including Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Corris Grey, Fuji White, Indus Silver, and Satin Byron Blue.
