RBI says: No more forced digital banking, your consent matters

Business

The Reserve Bank of India just rolled out new rules—banks now have to get a clear "yes" from you before signing you up for digital banking services.
So, you won't be pushed into using apps or websites unless you actually want them.
Banks can still collect your mobile number for alerts and KYC purposes.

More checks on banks and what pops up in your app

Banks also need to step up their security game with better fraud detection and set clear limits on transactions.
Plus, they can't show third-party products in their apps or websites except as specifically permitted by the Reserve Bank.
You'll get SMS or email updates about account activity, and if banks need extra time to meet these rules, the RBI might allow it under certain conditions.
