Roelof Botha steps down as Sequoia Capital's managing partner

Business

Big change at Sequoia Capital—Roelof Botha is stepping down as managing partner after more than three years in the top job.
He's not leaving entirely, though; Botha will stay on as an advisor and continue to represent Sequoia on the boards of portfolio companies.
Since joining Sequoia in 2003, he's played a huge role in shaping some of tech's biggest names.

Alfred Lin and Pat Grady are new co-MDs

Now, Alfred Lin and Pat Grady are taking over the reins.
Lin has been leading early-stage investments since 2017, while Grady has handled growth-stage deals since 2015.
This leadership shift comes after Sequoia split off its China and India/Southeast Asia branches to adapt to global tensions.
The firm—famous for backing Google and Apple—is also riding the wave of a recent surge in venture funding powered by AI breakthroughs like ChatGPT.
