British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce has officially launched its first-ever all-terrain vehicle - the Rolls-Royce Cullinan - in India. Priced at Rs. 6.95cr (ex-showroom), the Cullinan is the pinnacle of luxury SUVs, and offers top-of-the-class comforts with exceptional multi-terrain performance. The Cullinan will compete with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover SV Autobiography, and the upcoming Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Here's our round-up.

Where the Rolls-Royce Cullinan takes its name from

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is named after the Cullinan Diamond - the largest gem-quality diamond ever found. The diamond was discovered at a mine in Cullinan, South Africa, and 3,106.75 carats (621.35 g).

Despite being an SUV, the Cullinan carries signature Rolls-Royce design-elements

Design-wise, the Cullinan sports the Rolls-Royce look we've all come to associate the brand with. With Rolls-Royce's large and iconic grille and the 'Spirit of Ecstasy' ornament on it, the Cullinan looks similar to some of Rolls-Royce's modern luxury sedans from the front. Only when viewed from the side does the Cullinan betray the fact that it is an SUV. It sports 22-inch alloy wheels, and Rolls-Royce's signature suicide doors.

The Cullinan comes packed with the latest technology

The interior of the car is packed with the latest technology. The dashboard features touchscreen displays for entertainment, while the rear passengers get 12-inch HD touchscreen monitors placed on the back of the front row seats. The infotainment system, which sports a Blu-ray player and digital television, is assisted by 18 speakers with the next-generation of Rolls Royce's Bespoke Audio system.

The Cullinan makes no compromise on luxury or features

The cabin of the Cullinan is draped in luxurious leather, Rolls-Royce Bespoke fabrics, and carpets. There's use of plenty of metal to give that top-class look to the dashboard and other surfaces, and the power seats come with a massage function. The Cullinan is also equipped with technology such as night vision, pedestrian and wildlife alert, an alertness assistant, Wi-Fi hotspot, a 4-camera panoramic view etc.

What the Cullinan sports under its hood

In terms of its engine, the Cullinan sports a massive 6.75-liter V12 engine that generates an enormous 563bhp and 850Nm of peak torque. Of course, being an SUV, the car gets a four-wheel drive option and four-wheel steering, that allows for some serious off-road action, should its owners choose to tread the unbeaten path.
