Sensex slips to 73,878 points, Nifty settles at 22,475 mark
What's the story
Indian stock market's benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a slump on Friday.
While the Sensex slipped 732 points, or 0.98%, to 73,878.15 points, the Nifty shed 172.35 points, or 0.77%, to 22,475.85 points.
The midcap stocks witnessed a downward trend with the Nifty Midcap 50 shedding 54.3 points to end at 14,189.3 points.

Winners and losers
Who were the biggest winners and losers on Friday?
The winning sectors in the stock market on Friday were NIFTY PSE and NIFTY PHARMA, which rose 0.46% and 0.05%, respectively.
Coal India, Grasim and ONGC emerged as the top performing stocks, edging up 4.7%, 1.64% and 1.22%, respectively.
As far as the top stock losers are concerned, Larsen, Maruti Suzuki and Nestle lead the negative pack, plummeting 2.77%, 2.46% and 2.24%, respectively.

Coming to the Asian markets, both Hang Seng Index and Nikkei witnessed a surge. While the former rose 1.45% to 18,475.92 points, the latter gained 0.1% to 38,236.07 points. In the US market, NASDAQ surged 130.65 points, or 0.84%, to 15,736.13 points.

Forex report and gold, silver, crude oil futures
The Indian rupee (INR) on Friday strengthened 0.05% to settle at ₹83.43 against the US dollar in the forex trade.
Not much movement was witnessed in the gold and silver futures prices as they were trading flat. While the gold price settled at ₹70,651, the price for silver ended at ₹79,957.
The crude oil futures also settled flat at $78.98 per barrel.

Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai on Friday
Fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Friday with diesel priced at ₹87.66 per liter and petrol at ₹94.76 per liter. In Mumbai, diesel is selling for ₹92.13 per liter and petrol for ₹104.19 per liter.
