SpiceJet just hired Sanjay Kumar, who used to be a top executive at IndiGo, as its new Executive Director starting November 3.
He'll be working closely with Chairman Ajay Singh, aiming to boost the airline's growth by enhancing operational excellence and driving business transformation.
Kumar's experience will help turnaround the airline
The airline is in a tough spot—only 25 out of its 61 planes are flying, losses hit ₹235 crore last quarter, and debts have piled up to ₹3,700 crore.
With the aviation regulator keeping a close eye on them, SpiceJet hopes Kumar's decades of experience will help turn things around by adding new Boeing 737s and restructuring debt.
