TSA employees to receive $10,000 bonuses for handling government shutdown
After a 43-day government shutdown in the US, some TSA employees are getting $10,000 bonuses as a thank you for keeping airports running.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the news in Houston, saying these bonuses come on top of regular backpay and are meant to honor those who went above and beyond during the tough stretch that started October 1.
Money for bonuses comes from leftover Department of Homeland Security funds
The money for these bonuses comes from leftover Department of Homeland Security funds carried over from the Department of Homeland Security's fiscal year 2025 budget.
Noem emphasized that each employee's contribution will be reviewed so recognition goes to those who truly went above and beyond.
President Trump has also suggested similar rewards for air traffic controllers who worked through the shutdown.
