Uttarakhand government hikes DA for employees, pensioners ahead of Diwali
What's the story
In a major move, the Uttarakhand government has announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. The decision was approved by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and will come into effect from July 1. The enhanced DA rate will be applicable to employees and pensioners of local bodies as well as state government public sector undertakings.
Implementation details
Revised DA rate to be paid with October salary
The revised DA rate of 58% from the earlier 55% will be paid along with the October salary, which will be credited in November. This move is part of a broader effort by several Indian states to announce DA hikes ahead of the Diwali festival. The Uttarakhand government has also announced a Diwali bonus for employees with grade pay of up to ₹4,800, capped at ₹7,000. Dhami said these measures are aimed at boosting employee morale and providing financial relief.
Nationwide trend
Similar DA hikes in other states
Along with Uttarakhand, other Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Sikkim have also announced similar DA hikes for their employees and pensioners. The UP government approved a 3% increase in DA from 55% to 58%, effective July 1. In Odisha, too, CM Mohan Charan Majhi announced a similar hike on October 16.
