#CareerBytes: Popular scholarships for MTech students to know about

Engineering is one of the most preferred professional courses in the country, but as education is becoming expensive, many are unable to afford engineering education. However, there are many scholarships available today that are awarded to deserving students interested in engineering, including for pursuing postgraduate courses such as Master of Technology (MTech). Here are some popular scholarships for MTech students to know about.

#1
Scholarship offered by the AICTE for MTech students

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides scholarships to talented students who have scored qualifying marks in GATE to help them financially in pursuing higher education. Candidates admitted to first-year of MTech/ME programs at AICTE-recognized institutions are eligible. An amount of Rs. 12,400/month is given to selected candidates for the entire duration of the course. Having a savings bank account is necessary.

#2
L&T Build-India Scholarships for MTech studies

L&T Construction offers L&T Build-India Scholarships for pursuing MTech in Construction Technology and Management at IIT-Madras/IIT-Delhi/NIT-Surathkal/NIT-Trichy. Selected students receive Rs. 13,400/month stipend; sponsorship/tuition fees are directly paid to respective IITs/NITs. Applicants must have a first-class in civil/core electrical engineering with a minimum aggregate of 65% for BE/BTech. Selection is based on an online test and interview. Last date to apply is December 31, 2019.

#3
Scholarship offered by the M3M Foundation

M3M Foundation, the philanthropic arm of real estate company M3M Group, provides scholarships to deserving students from Class-9 to PhD level, with special preference to those from BPL families, differently-abled candidates, and orphans. This time, the last date for submission of the scholarship application is December 31, 2019. Educational institutions must register on M3M Foundation's website to enable their students to apply for scholarship.

Mahabir Prasad Singh Foundation's scholarship program

Mahabir Prasad Singh Foundation for Education and Research also has a scholarship program under which it provides financial assistance to deserving students who cannot afford to pursue higher studies. Those who are pursuing graduation or post-graduation in engineering, medicine, and modern science are eligible. Selected students will receive Rs. 3,000/month under the program. The applicant's annual family income shouldn't exceed Rs. 1-2 lakh.
